Beyond the Surface—Strength That Lasts

Beyond the Surface—Strength That Lasts

At Costello Carpentry, our structural carpentry keeps your home safe, straight, and quiet. We handle load bearing wall removal with engineered LVL or steel beams, joist sistering for sagging floor repair, subfloor leveling before tile or LVP, new headers for widened doorways, and framing repair after water or termite damage.

We replace sill plates and rim joists, add basement beams and lally columns, upgrade crawlspace support, and build shear walls where needed. Every project includes proper shoring, permits and inspections, quality connectors and hangers, and clean site protection. Planning a remodel or new opening? We make the structure finish ready so cabinetry, flooring, and drywall install cleanly and pass code the first time.

If your home needs stronger bones, smarter layouts, or safe structural changes, we’ve got the tools and the experience to do it right.
Let’s talk about your next project.

At Costello Carpentry, we handle the Structural Carpentry work that makes remodels feel solid every day, not just on reveal day. If you need load bearing wall removal with an LVL or steel beam, joist sistering for sagging floor repair, or subfloor leveling before tile or vinyl plank, we do it to spec and to code. Our team sizes beams correctly, transfers point loads to proper posts and footings, and documents the work for permitting and inspections. The result is finish ready framing that keeps cabinets square, doors from binding, and floors from telegraphing dips and seams.
Homeowners call us for three common issues. First, openings that were widened without the right header begin to crack and shift. We fix that with new headers, proper jacks and kings, and clean load paths so drywall and trim stay tight. Second, bouncy rooms and squeaks point to undersized or notched joists. We sister joists, add blocking, and reinforce the subfloor so tile and LVP have a flat, stable base. Third, moisture damage at the sill plate or rim joist weakens the edge of the house. We remove the rot, replace members with treated stock, and improve drainage and flashing so the problem does not return.
Planning a layout change or addition. We build new interior partitions, half walls, and knee walls with solid backing for finishes, niches, and shelving. In basements and crawlspaces, we add beams, lally columns, and bracing to correct settlement and deflection what ever the Structural Carpentry need. Where an engineer is required, we coordinate, follow stamped details, and keep the project moving. During active remodels we set temporary shoring and dust control so your home stays safe and livable.
If you are not sure where to start, look for these signs that structural carpentry is needed. Doors that rub or won’t latch. Cracks that keep returning above windows and openings. Floors that run out of level toward the center of the room. Soft or spongy spots near exterior walls. Deck ledgers without flashing. Any of these can be corrected with targeted framing repair before you invest in finishes.

Get a straightforward assessment, a clear scope, and framing work that passes inspection the first time. When the bones are right, everything else goes faster and lasts longer.
